    FUNCTIONAL YIN YOGA
In my one month intensive Yin Yoga teacher’s training with Paul Grilley (founder of Yin Yoga – Principles & Practice), allowed me to enter a different  dimension, liberating the body from past injuries and pain. By becoming more knowledgeable on how our bones are shaped helped me realize how truly different every bone is in the human frame: There are no two bones alike.
This discovery opened an entirely different pathway in my practice. It has allowed me to come to terms with my limits and injuries, so I could/can create space in my body that I never thought was possible.

    Why Functional Yin Yoga?
With Functional Yin Yoga, my practice evolved and freed me from trying to do what my body is/was not shaped to do.  I see this firsthand with Yoga becoming so popular, and with new or experienced yoga students trying to do what their bodies just won’t allow them to do – pushing themselves so hard and comparing their Yoga poses with others.  This competitive edge grows into frustration and inevitably injuries occur and set into their bodies.  This is human nature and nothing to upset or frustrate yourself about.  Recognition and balancing other dynamic exercises with Yin Yoga is the true recipe for longevity and well-being.

What does Functional Yin Yoga mean to us?
In this practice we will be focusing on specific target areas of the skeletal structure (your bones) in order to understand how to release them beyond the muscles, with targeting Fascial release.

We move slowly and timely through the body and create space in each individual target area, pose by pose. Experience the difference of how it feels to stretch and release muscles and fascia implementation of long-held poses that open the body to promote flexibility and chi flow through the subtle channels while also engendering a more contemplative, non-reactive quality of mind.
Consistency of this practice is rewarding and liberating.
Join me in this incredible experience. Let’s live our lives to the fullest and smile together!

This practice is offered on Wednesday’s, in Studio or online on Zoom, from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm, or offered in private sessions by appointment.

  • Thai Yoga Therapy

This sacred art is healing, invigorating and rejuvenating. It awakens the loving spirit and all senses opening the chakras and all meridians of the body. The result is the feeling of well-being and bliss. Nuad Boram is based on the northern style of traditional Thai Massage. Its foundation dates back 2,500 years ago during the time of Buddha. The basis is one of energy, at its most fundamental level. We reference this “energy” or “life force” as Prana. As in yoga, we continue in parallel with this “energy” and its indefinite power for healing. Being of good health, at least by majority definition is not being sick and able to function both through thought and physical independence. In Eastern philosophy, this concept is more defined as a balance of our chakras, or specific channels of energy flow that are in constant balance, where all of our internal systems, as well as our mind and spirit, are one in harmony. Sickness, diseases, and pains are considered to be an imbalance in this energy flow. Nuad Boram allows a reopening of this flow through stimulation allowing the mind and body to become balanced once again. Meredith Dawn Kramer.

Yin/Yang Yoga is a class in which to experience the benefits of a balanced practice of yin and yang styles of yoga. The yin style of long-held passive poses opens the body to more flexibility and chi flow through the subtle channels while also engendering a more contemplative, non-reactive quality of mind.

A more active, dynamic, yang style of vinyasa will follow, strengthening and invigorating the body and mind. Each class will conclude with meditation.

  • Yoga Nidra

Yoga Nidra often referred to as Yogic Sleep is the conscious awareness of the deep sleep state. It is an ancient Tantric technique made popular in the West by Swami Satyananda. This simple, yet powerful tool moves you to a state of deep relaxation and has the potential to take you beyond the three normal states of consciousness (waking, dreaming, and dreamless sleep states), to the 4th state of consciousness (Turiya).

There a multitude of physical benefits from practicing Yoga Nidra, including reduced stress, fatigue, anxiety, and worry; a better night’s sleep; improved digestion; and increased immune function. Spiritually, Yoga Nidra gives you access to that space between thoughts, beyond mind. In this space, we reset the body, expand the mind, and see things from a different vantage point. This allows for the burning or neutralization of Samskaras (deep impressions), the true goal of Yoga Nidra. This is the promise and power of Yoga Nidra.

Yoga Nidra is multilayered in its benefits as we move through the different layers of our being. Through the different Koshas or subtle bodies that overlay our essence, we gain deeper levels of mastery over our lives. This technique has been known to help patients with PTSD, terminal illnesses, mental disorders and other imbalances, physically, emotionally, and mentally. This practice is for everyone, whether you consider yourself healthy or not. Everyone can benefit in some way from the practice of Yoga Nidra.
