FUNCTIONAL YIN YOGA
In my one month intensive Yin Yoga teacher’s training with Paul Grilley (founder of Yin Yoga – Principles & Practice), allowed me to enter a different  dimension, liberating the body from past injuries and pain. By becoming more knowledgeable on how our bones are shaped helped me realize how truly different every bone is in the human frame: There are no two bones alike.
This discovery opened an entirely different pathway in my practice. It has allowed me to come to terms with my limits and injuries, so I could/can create space in my body that I never thought was possible.

 

Why Functional Yin Yoga?
With Functional Yin Yoga, my practice evolved and freed me from trying to do what my body is/was not shaped to do.  I see this firsthand with Yoga becoming so popular, and with new or experienced yoga students trying to do what their bodies just won’t allow them to do – pushing themselves so hard and comparing their Yoga poses with others.  This competitive edge grows into frustration and inevitably injuries occur and set into their bodies.  This is human nature and nothing to upset or frustrate yourself about.  Recognition and balancing other dynamic exercises with Yin Yoga is the true recipe for longevity and well-being.

 

What does Functional Yin Yoga mean to us?
In this practice we will be focusing on specific target areas of the skeletal structure (your bones) in order to understand how to release them beyond the muscles, with targeting Fascial release.

 

We move slowly and timely through the body and create space in each individual target area, pose by pose. Experience the difference of how it feels to stretch and release muscles and fascia implementation of long-held poses that open the body to promote flexibility and chi flow through the subtle channels while also engendering a more contemplative, non-reactive quality of mind.
Consistency of this practice is rewarding and liberating.

This practice is offered on Wednesday’s, in Studio or online on Zoom, from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm, or offered in private sessions by appointment.
